In June 2017, the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup will be held in Bermuda.

This is the premier competition for youth sailors that brings together and showcases the talents of the best youth sailors in the world as they compete in a series of races on AC 45 Foiling Catamarans. The event is regarded in many circles as the Word Cup or Super Bowl of Sailing.

Next Generation USA is a team of extremely accomplished American sailors who plan to represent the United States in the upcoming Red Bull Youth America’s Cup and thereby demonstrate to the sailing world the quality and skills of America’s up and coming sailors.

Goals & Plans

  • Win the American trials and represent the USA in the 2017 Red Bull Youth America’s Cup.

  • Win the 2017 Red Bull Youth America’s Cup.

  • Demonstrate that the USA has the talent to not only compete, but succeed at the highest levels of sailing.

  • Form a long-term foiling multihull team that is one of the best in the world and create a pathway to continue to develop the Next Generation of high performance sailors in the USA.

  • Build a Committed team possessing talent, skill, experience and fitness

  • Partner with and promote sponsors on a national and international stage

  • Establish a consistent training schedule and training partnership to maximize available opportunities to learn and improve

    • Charter a Marstrom32 to compete in the 2017 US M32 Series
    • Charter/look to purchase a GC32 for training, evaluation, and racing in the 2017 GC32 series
  • Provide opportunities to educate young US sailors looking to represent their country at the highest level.

Carson Crain


2016 Olympic Campaign in the Men’s RS:X. Experience in Laser, Foiling Kiteboard, and Multihull classes.  Completing studies in Sports Management and Medicine at Rice University.

Reed Baldridge


College Match Race Champion.  Experience in Team Racing, Laser, Moth, and Multihull classes.  US Waszp Class President.  Graduate of College of Charleston with a degree in Public Health.

Matthew Whitehead

Wing Trimmer

Four-time F-18 Youth World Champion.  2016 Olympic Campaign in the Nacra-17.  Wing Trimmer in the 2013 Youth Americas Cup.  Graduate of University of South Florida with a degree in Economics.

Markus Edegran

Foil Trimmer

Accomplished College Sailing career in Singlehandeds, Doublehandeds, and Team Racing.  Experience in the 49er, Foiling Kiteboard, and M32 classes.  Graduate of St. Mary’s College of Maryland (Magna Cum Laude) with a degree in Economics.

Scott Ewing

Soft Sail Trimmer

2016 U.S. 49er National Champion.  Redbull Foiling Generation Athlete.  Experience in the Moth and Flying Phantom classes.  Completing studies in Environmental Science at University of South Florida.

Preston Farrow


Experienced Nacra-17 sailor and Bermuda resident.  Completing studies in Finance at Loyola University of Maryland.
